Getting Paid to shop....at CVS
So as several you of already know. I was really upset yesterday. Normally I can keep my Irish temper under raps, but yesterday it blow. My fix for every bad situation in life is prayer, Chocolate and shopping. Of course not always in that order. I had tried the first two already and my blood was still boiling like a tea pot in a 5-Alarm fire. What else is a girl to do. I went shopping. Shopping did the trick. I felt wonderful after getting paid by CVS and the Manufacture to remove the products form the store.
***I do not suggest a new couponer to try to do a shopping trip in the heat of bad mood or with out it planned out to the last penny. The shopping trip will go horribly wrong and your blood will boil even more.***
Here is the what I ended up doing on the mist of the issues of the day and not having my trip planed out to the penny. I walked in hopping I would figure it out as I shopped and my wallet would not be damaged at the end of it all.
4- Soft Soap Body wash 3.00 each
2- Men’s speed stick 1.99 each
**Earned $5.00 Extra Care Bucks**
5- Dove Shampoo and Conditioner 3.00 each
**Earned $5.00 Extra Care Bucks**
2- Milky Way Bunny candies 2/1.00 (one not pictured)
2- M&M Med bags 3.49 each
1- soft caramel candy 0.33 (not pictured)
2 - Revlon Eye Makeup. Buy one get one 50% off. 7.29 and 3.64
Total = 50.22 Sale price. Full Retail price would have been 74.92
Here the coupon brake down.
4- soft soap body wash 1.00 each
1- Speed stick buy one get one free. (the coupon took 3.98 off)
4- Dove Shampoo or conditioner (coupon states 4 per transaction, bummer)
1- CVS Milky Way bunny .25/2
1.- CVS One Day Only M&M bag for 1.49 (coupon took 2.00 my bag of m&m)
1- M&M Coupon 1.50/2 bags
2- Revlon 1.00
1- CVS Revlon coupon 3.00 off one
Also used CVS coupon for 15 off 50.00 order
Extra Care Bucks $5.87
Out of pocket (oop) 8.62 before tax
Paid for it with a Gift Card from CVS 10gc for 30 spend in dec.
To make a long story short. I paid nothing for my Items and got back 10 extra bucks, 5.00 Beauty reward extra care buck and 5.00 from a Manufature rebate.
The Cashier was so shocked on this trip she puller her co-workers over to see it.

Stockpile, Level 4 and 5,
Seasonal Stockpile.
With every thing that I have said about looking at your family’s need at 12 week at a time. Im going to blow all those numbers out of the water with the next two subjects.
Seasonal products are wonderful but the coupons for them are harder to find. The companies release coupons for these items for a very short time frame each year. You have be head of the companies in order to stockpile enough of the seasonal items to last your family until the season comes around again.
Seasonal items,
Tuna, -best coupon come out in Jan and Feb, just as we head into lent.
Grilling items- BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, Mustard, Grilling Spices. Picnic supplies.
Holiday candies- every holiday has special candy to go with it.
Frozen foods - March frozen food month
Baking supplies - October early November
Pet treats- May National Pet month.
Most of these items you can pick up for free if you buy them during their season. For example, Last May I had coupons for Weber Grilling spices. The coupon was for $1.00, and Schnucks ran a month long special for 10/10. Between the sale and the coupon I was able to pick up enough grilling spices for free to last until this May. It’s hard to pay 2.50 to 2.78 for an item when you where able to pick it up for free just a few months ago. So pick up the amount you think your family will need then grad a few extra. You will find once you have a free item in your house you will use it more.
Clearance Items,
There is only a few rules when it comes to clearance items. Try to use coupons to make it a better deal. Only buy items your family will use. The biggest rule, shelf clearing is only ok when it’s a clearance item.

Stockpile Level 3
12-Week Coupon Stockpile - (12-WCS)
I know this can sound impossible or completely overwhelming. Take a deep breath, the twelve week coupon stockpile is the stockpile we will be talking about over the next month. When I first heard about this kind of stockpile I was sure Dave from coupon-wizards (http://www.coupon-wizards.com/) had a reason for this madness, but it just sounded crazy. There is a cycle for the coupons to be released and the lowest price at our stores. Normally the cycle is a twelve week time fame.
12-WCS uses the coupon and sale cycle to build a stockpile to save their family the most money. They only buy items on sale with the matching coupon. Plus they try to stack store coupons with the manufacture coupon as much as possible. They also use the stores rebate programs to get free items for the stockpile.
If we look at the example of Barilla pasta sauce that Meijer had it on sale 2 weeks ago. If the family uses one jar a week, you would need 12 jars for the kind of stockpile. You could spend 33.36 for them. Buying then on sale with the matching mfg and store coupons will cost you 9.00 for 12 week supply. A savings of 24.36.
I hope you are making your list of the itmes your family uses every week and the amount used. This is the first step in making a twelve week stock pile.

Stockpile level 1 and 2
Stockpiling means something different to everyone. I think it’s best thing to do is to take a few days to brake down the different kinds of stockpiling. Once we know which kind of stockpile we have. Then we go over the best way to build your stockpile with the right items and maintaining it.
General Shopper Stockpile (GSS)
Most of us have done general stockpiling at some point. We pick up extra items because the sale states 2/4. For example; Barilla pasta sauce 2 jars for $4.00. We buy both jars because that is what the sale is for. GSS buys some items on sale, but for the most part pick up the items as they are need for that weeks meals no matter the cost. GSS uses coupons here and there if they remember.
If you are still shopping this way, Stop now! There is a better way to shop that will save you time and money.
Basic Coupon Stockpile (BCS)
BCS understand using coupons when an item is on sale gives them the best discount on the item. They have also found the value of staking coupons. Using a manufacturer coupon with a store coupon. They buy multiple of the same item while it’s on sale with their coupons For example, BCS would buy 8 jars of the barilla pasta sauce because they had manufacturer coupon for a 1.00 off on jar, then a store coupon for 2.00 off 8 jars. This coupon combo brings each jar down to .75 cents. They saved $2.70 per jar.
Normally, BCS try to buy everything they can while it’s on sale with coupons. They know which stores have the best deals. They are starting to understand the coupon and sale ad cycle. On most transactions they are able to save at least 35%. They have saved a good amount of money and time by having a basic coupon stockpile.
If you are at this level, Great Job. It’s time to take it to the next level.
On Friday we will plunge into the 12-week coupon stockpile. This is the exciting level of stockpiling. You will see the biggest changes in the way you shop, the amount of money you will save. Plus you will always have a pantry full.

First topic of the month - Stockpiling
When you hear the term stockpile, what do you think of? Well, most of us think of the huge stockpiles we see on the TLC tv show extreme couponing. Where they have 12 year supply of laundry soap, 100 boxes of cereal, and more paper towels the a Target store keeps in stock. These are the extreme stockpiles. Yes, they do save a lot of money and time by having it all on hand. I don’t know about your house, I don’t have the room for an extreme stockpile.
Over the next week we are going to talk about ways have a stockpile with limited space.
Your homework for this week is- look at the items you are always buying and and the amount used this week. For example, If you are always buying the same lunch meat very week put it on the list. The list will help you see what items you need to stockpile. I will not ask you to share your list with the group. I will be sharing some of my must haves with you as this week goes on.
Stay tune as we explore stockpiling
